Loft Conversions in Lowestoft

28 March 2011 2 Comments
A converted loft impressionA loft conversion is a fairly straightforward modification to most properties. There are many times when having that extra space can be of benefit and enhance the enjoyment of the family home: extra bedroom for a new addition, guest room for guests at Christmas or a more luxurious bathroom to spoil yourself. Whatever the reason, a loft conversion can make perfect sense.
According to the Nationwide Building Society, a loft conversion can add up to 21% to the value of a property. So, not only can a loft conversion add comfort and value but can be realised through equity release in your home.
Commenting on the figures Nationwide Group Economist, Fionnuala Earely, said

“Nationwide research suggests that adding a bedroom can add 6% and a bathroom more than 5%. Combining the two in a loft conversion rather than moving could make a family £24,000 better off after taking moving costs into account.”

There are several options available to home owners when it comes to the design of your loft conversion. For those with more generous attic space little modification of the outside appearance of the roof line may be achievable.
However, for most properties it will be desirable to increase the potential space through the installation of a dormer structure.
There are several types of dormers available that can be introduced into your property and our designers are well placed to talk you through the possible options.
Your first step to starting your loft conversion project is to make contact with your local planning consultants. East of England Planning Consultants would be delighted to advise you further and help take your project through to a successful application at Waveney District Council.
